Deer Valley East Village is the part of Park City closest to our homes, and it is changing fast. Here is what is new this season, what is still coming, and what it means for planning a winter trip.
Opening day is December 5
Deer Valley has announced Saturday, December 5 as opening day for the 2026/27 season, conditions permitting. A new 10-million-gallon reservoir next to Park Peak feeds the east side snowmaking system, which can make 20,000 gallons of snow a minute, so the resort can build coverage early.
Skiing just got bigger
The East Village Express gondola, which opened in early 2026, takes skiers nearly 3 miles to Park Peak in about 15 minutes. The 10-passenger cabins have heated seats and floor-to-ceiling windows, and one arrives every 12 seconds. East Village added 80 runs and 7 lifts last season, more than doubling Deer Valley’s ski terrain.
This winter, Hail Peak Express adds roughly 200 acres and 7 new runs. It is the resort’s 32nd lift, with 86 chairs moving about 2,400 guests an hour. Deer Valley will offer 4,500 skiable acres for 2026/27, and one of the new Hail Peak runs is named Hill Yeah.
Good news for families
There is a new snow-feature zone off the Pioche Express with rollers and berms. Humbug is a run of flowy rollers, and McHenry has a dedicated family-friendly area, so younger skiers have places to play that are not just groomers.
A food scene on the mountain
Canopy Deer Valley is now open with four concepts, from Italian and coffee to après and rooftop drinks. Nearby at the Grand Hyatt you will find steak, coffee, live music and sports.
Park Peak Lodge is coming for the 2027/28 season with a patio, two bars and eight dining options. There is no road to it in winter, so supplies arrive by gondola.
Wellness, too
Canopy has a fitness center, indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room and cold plunge. The Grand Hyatt has a fitness lounge overlooking Jordanelle, and its spa is being refurbished.
It’s not all about winter
Deer Valley’s summer season has wrapped for the year, but the trails stay. Ross Creek and Wada Way, Keetley, Skyridge Peak, the Milky Way bike trail and Jordanelle State Park are all minutes away.
What’s coming
The developer’s current timeline, which can shift, looks like this:
- Winter 2027/28: East Village Lodge and Park Peak Lodge. A temporary skier services building covers the gap until the lodge opens.
- Late 2027: Four Seasons residences, a pedestrian plaza and the first shops and restaurants.
- 2028 ski season: the Four Seasons hotel tower and Waldorf Astoria Deer Valley Resort and Residences.
- By the 2028/29 ski season: more than 70 shops and restaurants.
- By 2030: the remaining residential and retail space.
When it is finished, the developer calls East Village the first new alpine village built in North America in more than 40 years.
