Park City Mountain is the biggest ski area in the United States by acreage, with two bases, a long list of lifts and terrain for every level. This guide covers what is new for 2026-27, how to get around, and how to plan a day without the usual headaches.
The basics
- Target opening day: Friday, November 20, 2026, conditions permitting. Last season opening slipped to early December, so treat the date as a goal.
- Size: More than 7,300 acres, 330+ trails and more than 40 lifts, with about 3,226 feet of vertical.
- Terrain: Roughly 8% beginner, 42% intermediate and 50% advanced.
- Snowboarders welcome: Unlike Deer Valley, Park City Mountain is open to skiers and snowboarders.
What is new for 2026-27
- Canyons Village Skyway: A free, enclosed 10-person gondola from the new parking structure to the Canyons Village base. It replaces the Cabriolet, which made its last run in March 2026. It is expected to be ready for the season, so check the resort for its start date.
- New Canyons Village parking structure: The final phase is complete or nearly so.
- Eagle Superpipe: The 22-foot superpipe has been rebuilt.
- The Snow League: Shaun White’s snowboard and freeski competition is scheduled for January 21 to 23, 2027.
- Dining extras: An expanded Peak to Plate dining experience and a Build-A-Bear Workshop at Canyons Village.
Big lift upgrades, including a new Silverlode lift and a combined Eagle and Eaglet lift, are planned for the 2027-28 season rather than this winter.
Tickets and passes
Park City Mountain is part of the Epic Pass family. Epic and Epic Local pass prices go up in steps through the fall, so buy sooner rather than later. Day tickets use dynamic pricing, so they cost less when bought in advance and on off-peak days, and more on holidays and powder weekends.
Getting there and parking
- Two bases: Mountain Village sits just off Old Town, and Canyons Village is a few minutes north. Most guests pick one for the day.
- Free transit: Park City Transit and High Valley Transit connect Old Town, both bases and Kimball Junction, and the buses carry skis. Morning service starts early, around 6:30 to 7 a.m.
- Canyons Village parking: The new garage charges $29 a day before noon and is free after noon. Carpools of four or more park free before noon, space permitting.
- Mountain Village parking: Reservations are required before noon on most days, so book ahead or take the bus.
- Airport: Salt Lake City International is about 35 minutes away.
Eating on the mountain
There are eight on-mountain lodges. Favorites include Tombstone for barbecue, Cloud Dine for donuts and Lookout Cabin for Rocky Mountain cuisine. Which lodges are open and when can change through the season, so check before you plan lunch. On select evenings, Silver Sky Nights add live music and fireworks.
Lessons, rentals and beginners
- Lessons: Group, private and kids lessons are available. Book at least 48 hours ahead and look for pass-holder discounts.
- Rentals: Park City Mountain offers online gear pre-selection through My Epic Gear.
- Learning terrain: The Red Pine learning zone at Canyons Village, First Time Park at Mountain Village and the High Meadow Park area are the best places to start.
Tips for a smoother day
- Arrive before noon or take transit to skip parking stress.
- Buy lift tickets early for the lowest prices.
- Early season coverage can be limited. Mid-December onward is the safer bet.
- Holiday weeks book 6 to 9 months out, so lock in lodging early.
